iPhone 4 News and Rumor Roundup, June 16, 2010

Today, there is no fresh news about when the white iPhone 4 will be released or why it isn't around. Apple seems to be keeping very quiet on this front. Two possible reasons are:

1. Apple Doesn't Know Anything Yet

Apple may still not know when it's going to be able to ship the white one in adequate quantities to meet demand and not anger buyers. If this is the case, then it becomes more likely that the white iPhone 4 was delayed due to a last-minute problem specific to the white units. As we know the only difference between the white and the black is the color, this suggests either the production was stalled or suddenly delayed, or a flaw with the white model directly related to its color is the culprit.

2. Apple Doesn't Want to Tell Us

As they certainly don't need to say anything to keep sales robust, Apple may be avoiding relaying any bad news to have fewer negative headlines. No news, as it is said, is good news. I'll stay on top of the interwebs and report anything that I find though, so stay tuned.

In other news, black iPhone 4 continues to sell at a ridiculous rate. If you waited yesterday, the earliest your pre-order will now ship is July 2nd. That means the initial production run is all presold or destined for retail outlets, and that white iPhone 4 will likely be available much later than that. The wait times between white and black, however, have now significantly narrowed. Also, the initial sales numbers are probably going to shock the industry.

We're now in line for the Avatar of smartphones, and we're waiting for the IMAX version. Stay tuned white iPhoneers, I'll be keeping an eye on things for you.
