White iPhone 4 in Best Buy Stores at Launch?

A leaked Best Buy internal shipping document has the iPhone quarter of the web buzzing with the news that just maybe Best Buy will have some white ones on launch day.  This article takes a look at that possibility.

According to a report by AppleInsider, leaked Best Buy shipping reports indicate that Best Buy stores were allowed to order white iPhone 4s.  The numbers were much smaller than those placed for black iPhone 4s, jiving with the theory that they may be available in limited numbers.

However, the report does not show any have been shipped, and according to AppleInsider, Best Buy's own launch day manual indicates that there is no guarantee the orders will be filled.  Does this bring a glimmer of hope?  Yes.  Shoud we get too excited?  Not just yet.

One might expect, however, to hear something concrete regarding the white iPhone 4 from Apple within the next few days, as there may be people lining up trying to get them.  The kind of PR disaster in which a customer waits in line for half a week to lay hands on a white iPhone 4 only to be denied at the register could be avoided with a simple anouncement on whether they'll have the phones in stock anywhere.  I'd expect such an anouncement within the next few days, before people really have time to get in line.  This, of course, is speculation only.  Apple could just as well do nothing.

For now, we'll just have to wait and see.  I'll keep my eye out for official news or promising rumors, and put them up right here for everyone to see.  Either way, we'll have some fun while we wait.  More to follow.
